Health, safety and the environment

Introduction

hazard warning signThis module of our online CPD training covers health, safety and environmental aspects of interior landscaping.

We will cover issues such as safe working practices during the installation and subsequent maintenance of interior plant displays, the safe use of chemicals and other preparations, the risks associated with some plants and how to ensure that plant displays, once installed, won't collapse or break.

This module also covers environmental aspects of the interior landscaping industry.  Like all commercial activities, this industry has an impact on the environment.  We will explain how that impact can be minimized through the careful selection of plants and materials, their production and subsequent maintenance.

Finally, we will explain how interior plants can have a positive effect on the environment, especially in the workplace.  The use of plants to reduce noise and improve indoor air quality will be covered.  We will also discuss how indoor plants are being used in some countries to help architects and developers gain 'green building' status for their projects.

Once you have read all the sections in this module, you can test your knowledge by taking part in a quiz.  You can also download and print a certificate that records your participation in this training module.  You may wish to add this to your personal training record.

This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
