Human
Genome Sciences, Washington DC
This is the atrium
of Human Genome Sciences in Washington DC, USA. The
space is well lit and has an airy feel.
As well as some
small specimen plants, the atrium includes mass planting of
smaller foliage plants, including Dracaena 'Limelight', the
plant with the striking yellow foliage in the foreground of
the top picture.
Dracaena 'Limelight'
is a variant of Dracaena deremensis. It has a mutation
where additional yellow pigments are produced in the leaves.
Surprisingly, this variety is tolerant of very low light levels
and it can be used to great effect in dimly-lit areas.
This display was
installed and is maintained by the Washington DC branch of
Initial
Tropical Plants.
