Fisher
Plaza, Seattle
Fisher Plaza, a
class A office campus, is the home of a Seattle broadcasting
company. The plant displays, designed and maintained
by the local branch of Initial
Tropical Plants, were given an award of merit in the 2004
California Interior Plantscape Association (CIPA) awards in
the design category ($25,001 - $50,000 class). The public
areas of the building are used by the tenants and audiences
for live television shows.
The design brief required
the use of colourful foliage, rather than the use of blooming
plants. A water feature was designed to incorporate
plants, which are grown by hydroculture methods to allow them
to thrive in the wet conditions.
