Sheffield
Winter Garden, UK
The Sheffield Winter Garden is part of a major urban regeneration
project in one of Britain's largest cities. The building,
designed by Pringle
Richards Sharratt Architects, has been featured in many
architectural publications. The structure of the building
is made from soft wood, engineered in such a way as to give
the building strength, durability and an uninterrupted interior
space for the plants.
The plants, installed and maintained
by Rentokil
Tropical Plants UK, come from all over the World and represent
the major plant types from a variety of different environments.
There are 2,000
plants from 150 different species ranging in size from small
ground-cover species to huge palms that required special load-handling
equipment for their installation.
We
are grateful to Sheffield City Council for the use of
these images on this web site. More information
