Rentokil Tropical
Plants, Durban wins a Gold Medal in the Interior Plantscaping
Association of South Africa 2004 awards of excellence

Rentokil Tropical
Plants South Africa is an executive and active member
of IPSA (Interior Plantscaping Association of South Africa)
and recently participated in the IPSA Awards of Excellence
2004.
The Durban branch
won a gold medal in the individual planter's maintenance category
for the plant displays at NCP Alchocols, Durban.
NCP has been a Rentokil
Tropical Plants client since 1995. In early 2003 they moved
into new offices.
The
structure of the new building is very modern and the clients
specified an "Ethnic Chic" interior. Working
in partnership with the NCP's interior designers, 94 "Calabash"
ethnic pots in a dark earthy colour were chosen to enhance
the look of the building. Sculptured plants were also selected
to complete the harmony of the surroundings.
Character plants with
their distinctive stems, such as Dracaena fragrans
"Massangeana" and Dracaena reflexa were chosen as
being ideal for the offices, where light levels could be quite
low. However, Yucca elephantipes plants are
used in prominent positions at the double-story entrance where
there is plenty of sunlight.
Striking
and colourful Penjing-style desk-top features are used to
accent the high profile areas of this building, such as the
reception.
