RHS
medals for Rentokil Tropical Plants UK
Rentokil Tropical Plants has maintained its enviable record
of awards by winning a prestigious Silver Gilt medal at this
year’s Chelsea Flower Show, a Gold medal at the RHS/BBC
Gardeners' World Live show in Birmingham and another Silver
Gilt medal at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show - the biggest
plant and garden show in the World.
This achievement
follows on from a clutch of medals won in the last few years.
At Chelsea alone, Rentokil Tropical Plants won a Silver
Gilt in 2003, a Gold and a Silver medal in 2002 and a Gold
in 2001. The Show, regarded as the most prestigious of its
kind, is held in London during May and attracts visitors from
all over the world.
The 2004 Chelsea exhibit featured exotic foliage plants and
bromeliads, set off in striking red containers that generated
almost as much comment as the plants.
The exhibits were
designed, built and shown by Paul Sturgess, Rentokil Tropical
Plants’ UK Projects Manager – often dubbed the
“Plant Doctor” because of his extensive knowledge
of plant pests and diseases. Paul spends most of the year
training Rentokil service staff and designing and overseeing
the installation of large plant contracts. Some of the better-known
or more unusual contracts in the UK with which he’s
been involved include:
Sheffield
Winter Gardens
- Swansea Tropical Hot House
- The Temperate House in Jephson Gardens, Leamington Spa
- P&O’s Oriana and Aurora cruise ships
- Meadowhall and Metro Centre shopping centres
Rentokil
Tropical Plants UK will be exhibiting at theChelsea Flower
Show, Hampton Court Palace Flower Show and the Gardeners'
World Live exhibition in Birmingham again during the summer
of 2005.
